SUMMARY:Barron Ryan Performance
DESCRIPTION:https://youtu.be/4Vz9pHZO1bk?si=4LooJB9MOJ9klzbV \n  \nArtsLink’s 2024-25 Concert Series concludes with a concert by pianist Barron Ryan on Tuesday\, March 11 at 7pm at the Gold Derrick Gallery on Wells Street in Sistersville. This concert is sponsored by Barb and Tom Daly. \n  \nThe evening’s entertainment will feature Barron Ryan in his concert “Classic Meets Cool”. ArtsLink coordinator Donna Earley comments\, “Barron is not your usual classical pianist. Keep your fingers crossed for some Michael Jackson. Barron’s classical music really is cool!” \n  \nThis is a “Sock It To Me” event. We are asking everyone to bring a pair of socks to be donated locally. And be sure to “Knock Someone’s Socks Off” by wearing your wildest socks for the Crazy Socks Contest\, judged by Barron. So “Pull Your Socks Up” and join us for an evening of fun. \n  \nBarron Ryan’s love for music has always been divided. The son of two musicians\, he grew up in a house filled with the sounds of artists ranging from Mozart to Michael Jackson. So when it comes to his own performing\, he’s not content drawing on just one influence. He combines them all into a musical adventure that’s vintage yet fresh\, historical yet hip\, classic yet cool. \n  \nReservations may be made by calling ArtsLink at 304-455-2278 or by purchasing tickets at the door. Ticket prices for ArtsLink members are $10 individual\, $15 family; non-members\, $15 individual\, $25 family; students $5. Credit cards will be accepted and light refreshments will be served. \n  \nFunding for this program made possible with support from West Virginia Northern Community College\, WETZ/WYMJ Radio\, EQT Foundation\, and the Antero Foundation. This program is presented with financial assistance from the West Virginia Department of Arts\, Culture and History and the National Endowment for the Arts\, with approval from the West Virginia Commission on the Arts. With additional support from the Harry E. and Olive T. Barth Charitable Trust\, a component fund of the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley\, ArtsLink is committed to providing universal accessibility wherever possible. SUMMARY:Andrew Collins Trio
DESCRIPTION:ArtsLink’s 24-25 Concert Series Season continues with a performance by the Andrew Collins Trio on Thursday\, February 27\, at 7:00 pm at The Parlor Theater at Doolin Center\, 253 Main Street\, in downtown New Martinsville.\n\n\nFor your convenience\, please park in the free parking lot at the corner of Martin Avenue and Jefferson Street and use the rear entrance to the Doolin Center.\n\n\n\n\nTickets for ArtsLink members are $10 for an individual and $20 for a family (2 adults and kids under 18)\, for non-members $15 for individuals and $25 for a family\, student tickets are $5\, and will be available at the door. Cash\, checks\, and credit cards are accepted.\n\n\n\nAs Collins gathers up innumerable JUNO nominations (5) and Canadian Folk Music Awards (7) won by his various ensembles\, he’s zeroing in on the work he does with Trio-mates: fellow string guru Adam Shier whose versatility shines through on vocals\, guitar\, mandolin and in-the-pocket James McEleney holding it down on the bass\, mandocello and vocals.\n\n\n\nShowcasing a dizzying number of styles and instruments on stage\, Collins and Co. appear to live by the old adage\, “idle hands are the devil’s workshop”\, likely keeping them just ahead of his grasp.\n\n\n\nFunding for this program made possible with assistance from West Virginia Northern Community College\, the Antero Foundation\, EQT Foundation\, and WETZ/WYMJ Radio. This program is presented with financial assistance from the WV Department of Arts\, Culture and History\, and the National Endowment for the Arts\, with approval from the WV Commission on the Arts. SUMMARY:Oglebay Ballet "Hansel and Gretel"
DESCRIPTION:ArtsLink’s 2024-25 Concert Series continues Sunday\, October 27 with a performance of “Hansel and Gretel” by the Oglebay Institute Youth Ballet. The show will start at 3pm at the Lincoln Theater and is sponsored locally by Marble King. \nFor more than 200 years\, children around the world have been captivated by the story of brave siblings “Hansel & Gretel” and their adventures in the woods with fairies\, gingerbread children\, and a house made of candy. \nYoung and old alike can once again enjoy this classic story in which good triumphs over evil. Oglebay Institute’s School of Dance presents an original adaptation of “Hansel & Gretel” ballet. \nThe performances are part of Oglebay Institute’s Children’s Theater Season\, which brings classic\, well-loved stories from the page to the stage through theater and dance. \nOglebay Institute director of dance Cheryl Pompeo said\, “Kids get excited about the characters and music they know but get to see the story presented in new and interesting ways. They are introduced to the beauty of dance and observe how dance can be used as a means of self-expression and storytelling.” \nPompeo added that the show is appropriate for all ages and is a “wonderful way for families to spend quality time together engaging in the arts.” \n“Almost everyone has heard the bedtime story of ‘Hansel & Gretel\,’ but few have seen the ballet\,” she added.  “Although it follows the traditional storyline\, the ballet is a completely different experience from reading it in a book. The characters jump off the page to tell the story through expressive\, dynamic music and dance.” \nTickets for ArtsLink members are $10 for an individual and $20 for a family (2 adults and kids under 18)\, for non-members $15 for individuals and $25 for a family\, students are $5\, and will be available at the door. Theater parties are welcome; 10% discount for groups of 10 or more\, with advance reservation. \nFunding for this program is made possible with assistance from The City of New Martinsville Parks and Recreation Commission\, West Virginia Northern Community College\, WETZ/WYMJ Radio\, Antero Foundation\, and EQT Foundation. This program is presented with financial assistance from the WV Department of Arts\, Culture and History\, and the National Endowment for the Arts\, with approval from the WV Commission on the Arts.
