POETRY READINGS—Poet Jerry Ellis gave readings of his
original works at the recent open house for the Francis Creative
Arts Center. Ellis does readings regularly on Tuesdays at
Barista's. | | | GOURMET DESSERTS—A chocolate fountain was a popular draw at
the dessert table for the opening of the Francis Creative Arts
Center, located on the corner of Maple Avenue and Washington Street
in New Martinsville. |

FULL HOUSE--John Mensore
entertained a full house of more than 100 at the first of
five Thursday evening Coffee House performances at the Francis
Creative Arts Center. Scheduled for the lawn, the event was driven
inside after heavy rains came shortly before the concert
started. The weather didn't dampen the enthusiasm of the
audience however. Refreshments were provided by Lucille
Blum. |

2006 Arts in the Park
PATRIOTIC OPENING--The Meistersingers, under the direction
of Genie Clements, started the afternoon off by singing the
National Anthem, a medley of patriotic songs and saluted the area
veterans by singing the songs of each of the branches of service.

perform some of his amazing magic tricks. |

ENJOYING ARTS IN THE PARK 2006--Bob Brown, left, of New
Martinsville, and his family came to hear mom Sally Brown sing with
the Meistersingers and stayed all afternoon for the fun and games.
With Bob are his daughter, Vikki and her husband, William Milford.
Their children are, from left, Olivia, 3; Ella, 2, and Anna, 6.
They live in South Carolina. |
WVU Percussion Ensemble Wows Audience |

The West Virginia University Percussion Ensemble
played to a large audience at the Lincoln Theater in New
Martinsville on April 30, closing out the 2005-2006 ArtsLink
Concert Season. Look for an announcement of the 2006-2007 Concert
Series schedule in the near future |
James Fauber Art Exhibit 2-4 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2006, at the Francis Creative
Arts Center New exhibits the first Sunday of each month. Check
the Calendar.

from George Couch, Wetzel County Hospital Administrator. Wetzel
County Hospital sponsored the fourth concert in the 2005-2006
concert season. Scheduled next is a performance by the West
Virginia University Percussion Ensemble on April 30, in partnership
with the New Martinsville Parks and Recreation Department, and
sponsored by Dr. and Mrs. Jay Cunningham
